Maple Ridge

The Province of BC is moving forward on new supportive and affordable housing projects in Maple Ridge. The proposed housing will address the need to relocate an existing shelter to provide housing options for people at the Anita Place camp, and to create more affordable housing options for lower-income seniors and families.

Temporary Supportive Modular Housing

The Province of British Columbia has purchased land to build urgently needed temporary supportive homes for people living at the Anita Place camp and others struggling with homelessness in Maple Ridge.

22534/22548/22556 Royal Crescent will be the site for temporary modular homes that will be staffed 24/7. Due to the urgent need and the prolonged tent city situation, the Province has bought the site and intends to move ahead with installing temporary structures.

For any future permanent use of the site, BC Housing will seek community feedback to suit the broader housing needs of the community. Permanent use of the site will go through the municipal rezoning process.

Supportive Housing

The property at 11749/11761 Burnett St. will include up to 80 units of supportive housing and shelter beds. The exact unit mix is to be determined, but the emphasis will be on housing

The Salvation Army Ridge Meadows ministries will operate the new project and move their existing shelter at 22188 Lougheed Highway to the new building when it’s complete.

Tenants of the new building will be supported by an Intensive Case Management (ICM) team, which helps people with health, mental health, housing and poverty challenges by co- connecting them with treatment and support services.

Affordable Rental Housing

BC Housing is in discussions with the City of Maple Ridge to build new affordable rental homes at 21375 Lougheed Highway for low-income families and seniors.

Also in development are 94 units of additional affordable rental housing at 11907 228th St. They will be operated by Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Community Services.
